Thanks all. Yes, it is a baptista, and yes, they do not "usually" grow sideways. LOL. It was the only way to give this interesting plant a good showing. I was drawn to getting this one because of it's unique brown coloring. It is proving to be a great grower, and is much increased from last year even though it had a caterpillar attack last summer (those unwelcome visitors Casey referred to above).
An interesting note: The buds stay pretty tightly closed, but the bees just push right into them. It was fascinating to watch.
