Well now, had not thought of that. That is great especially for potting soil. Will do that.
For plants placed in the garden soil, we use a short thin stick from fallen limbs to place
directly beside a tomato or pepper stem for example. The cutworms
can't wrap all the way around the veggie stem to make the cut.

A paper cup turned upside down with the bottom cut out will keep the birds
from pulling up the corn seedling to get the corn.

Starting seeds in paper rolls is a good tip too. Will try that also.
