So I air layered some older grape vines and have some pretty nice roots inside of the plastic.
It has been about 4 weeks since I started.
So I have a few questions:

I want to transplant this straight into the ground.
I would say the stem is about 1.5x the size of a pencil and the amount of vine after the new root is probably 5-6 feet long with various shoots coming off of it.
When I transplant this to the ground how much of this vine, leaves, shoots ect.. should I leave on? Should we cut most of this off, so the root system can handle the load?

Also, would it be better to leave it in the plastic for now since it is the middle of the summer( we are expected to have around 90 degree temps for the next 10 days) or should I try to get it in the ground as soon as possible?
Thanks in advance
