The echinacea do not come true from seed, so when you have the seedlings pop up or if you sow the seeds you gather, you really don't know what you will get. Sometimes will surprise you.
I have heard good things about Ticki Torch but I don't have one. Also the echinacea need excellent drainage and lots of sun or they will get leggy and probably will not make it through the winter. I read that you should not let them bloom late so they can get stronger for winter, evidently blooming takes a lot of energy. Sure enough the liners and new plants I got last year, the ones that bloomed are the ones that died, first year plants I am talking about, ok?
The ones that made it through the winter are Sundown, Powwow Berry, Secret Joy, Secret Passion and Secret Daydream, the secrets series these did not bloom because I got these liners in October or something. They lived and the Amazing Dream which had a beautiful pink bloom, died. I have winter-sown paradoxa, and a few others.
Also have heard good things about Summerfun, Hot Papaya, Pink double delight.
The ones that died, was Sunrise, Red Knee High, Powwow white, Tangerine dream, and I already mentioned the Amazing Dream. So that's about it. Green Grin!
Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Mat.6:28-29
