In order to "help" this type of Dendrobium bloom, you reduce watering frequency, lower night time temperatures in the Fall. Temperatures at night in the upper 40's through mid 50's is what helps to initiate bud formation. They suddenly appear as little green bumps primarily high up on the bulbs.
