Last year I had great success with my variety of sunflowers. So this spring I repeated what I did last year with the planting of such. Unfortunately, something got on all the leaves and I guess I started the treatment (vegetable oil, dish detergent with a mixture of water), too late. I managed to get just a few blossoms on one of the plants and something even got that, which I suspect squirrels. I ended up cutting them all down with the exception of two of them which had buds. If I leave the stalks in the ground will they come back next year? Or do I need to reseed next year?
My sunflowers of last year.
