Also, my master gardener friend said that the plants have to be actively growing. At our western PA cottage, we have had problems with poison ivy growing under the big patch of 100+ year old lilac bushes. She has us spray in the spring and yes, even hot summer days - but has told me fall spraying won't do anything to the poison ivy - although it may harm other things we don't want to harm. ~Jan
