Thank you for a thoughtful and encouraging article. In my opinion, your daughter is both right and wrong in so many ways, and as you know I could certainly carry on for a while on this topic which I feel so strongly about. For some aspects of our natural world, it is indeed too late, but for so many others there is still time, but only if we embrace the changes needed and do it sooner, not later. We have the knowledge and ability to do what is necessary, now we just need to do it, and gardening is certainly a wonderful way to start. But don't stop there, for the sake of our children and grandchildren. I am working hard to ensure a better future for my son and not let him inherit a mess to clean up. Just as the Victory Gardens you mention, one step at a time, one person at a time, it adds up.
Just like you, I prefer to think positive - it can be done, now do it!
