Rememberings, what a wonderful way to put it. It looks as though little Ethan has inherited his Grandma's thinking skills, and maybe a future author in his own right. Thumbs up

Another planting memory that your article had brought to mind, was of my Grandma Gillis planting flowers in an old tire at the cabin every Spring. One plant that I dearly loved had beautiful plumes of tiny rosy-pink flowers, and it came up EVERY year. They were my very favorite at the time! Years went by, and then when we were living in Washington, I remembered those flowers, but had no idea what they were called. We checked all the wonderful nurseries that abound in the Seattle area, and couldn't find anything that looked like that plant. Then one Spring, out in front by the mail boxes, just 6 inches from the roadbed a new plant popped up, and when it bloomed, I sat down on the grass beside it and cried. There was the flowers that had been hiding in the shadows of my mind. Grandma had sent me her beautiful flowers. After we moved back to Arizona and started planting our flower gardens, I told Earl, "We have to find that plant that Grandma had planted so long ago." Finally after checking out the nurseries in Flagstaff and Payson, we found that plant, a Centranthus ruber, better known as Jupiter's Beard. And here he grows, every year in a bed of rocks in clay soil at 7,000 feet. With careful deadheading, it will bloom all Summer long, and it warms my heart.

This was it's second blooming of the season, and they are never quite as full as those that grew at 1,200 feet. But they still fill my head with thoughts of Grandma.
