We had a bit of wind and rain yesterday and are expecting more for the next two or three days, and I'm using every stake I have to try to keep my lovelies from collapsing under the weight of wet blooms plus wind. But so far everything looks OK this morning. I'm so sorry about your hard freeze, Aruba, and I totally understand about the Japanese maples! I have almost 20 different ones that I've collected over the past few years, and I can only imagine what you're going through. Were they just starting to bud, or did you have any leaves coming out? But Japanese maples can take freezing weather, can't they? I'll hope for the best for you!
But the iris stalks -- Oh noooooo! I hope they aren't too far gone and will recover -- can't wait to see the pictures! I got BACKDRAFT from the hybridizer, Hugh Stout, and I know that Rockytop also carries it. The colors are different from just about everything else I have, so it's a keeper for me at this point.
And Paul, I can't wait to see your flower show! It must be getting close now, eh? I know you've posted pictures of a few of your seedlings now -- yea!!!
I just got my Sutton's catalog yesterday and wasn't planning to order from them -- but I see two rebloomers I think I'll just have to squeeze in, plus I want another rhizome of DOUBLE DOWN for sure. And they also have MIDNIGHT COWBOY -- can't get enough of that one, and mine didn't get enough water last summer and succumbed -- so I need more! Does anyone have BOTTLE ROCKET? I sure like the looks of that one!
