Old cheap trick with area rugs (because their corners also sometimes 'turn up' with age as well): For each area rug buy two cheap 12"x12" self-stick vinyl floor tiles. Cut the tiles in half from point-to-point, ending with two triangular pieces. Remove the paper backing and stick one to the underside of the rug at each corner. The additional weight and rigidity holds them flat - and all for about a buck apiece.
