I think a real "problem" with new indoor gardeners , especially now that they're home most of the time, is a tendency to "helicopter garden". Their tendency is to "work" on their plants every day (sometimes more) and worry about every little spot and funny bump or pattern. I think more experienced gardeners need to encourage them to relax and enjoy their plants more and remind them that most plants don't respond as fast as they think they do.
And THEN ask them "what were you thinking when you spent that much money on that?"
