The picture below is my Pink Perfection. This year it was the last lily (by a full two weeks) to emerge in this mixed lily garden. When it did, the shoot was about five or six inches away from last years stem. Last fall, this plant showed signs of stress and went into dormancy earlier than usual (for it and other Trumpets which normally stay green here until they freeze in November). I interpreted this to be due to possible division occurring and I was quite happy with that.
However, when it failed to emerge this Spring (until a week ago) I became very worried it wouldn't come back at all. And now that it has, I'm still worried. It reviewing things a little deeper, notice the purple darkening to the bottom leaves (they did not die). This I think is due to a mico mineral uptake deficiency caused by a high pH. Except the pH in this garden runs between 6.4-6.7. This darkening of leaves only affected this small spot of two Trumpets and none of the other Division plants. Also noted was this darkening of leaves began to appear right at the transition of a four to five week cold spell of temperatures in the 60s to an abrupt next day change to hot, steamy temps in the 95-101 degree range for three weeks straight. Not all the leaves turned darker; only those on the south side. I'm also aware that a bulb will hold out a year to rest if it can't produce a plant (still could be something else)
Has anyone experienced something like this? I would appreciate any comments, suggestions and recommendations. The reason I even care about this Pink Perfection is because it is pretty close to what I perceive the original Pink Perfection as. This one was given to me several years ago from an Estate Sale. I have since purchased twenty or more and given every one them away because of color quality/variation. Edit: I should have noted this photo is slightly overexposed and lighter.
