... and if you never travel. My husband was in good health when he retired, signed up for an Advantage plan. We didn't realize until the end of the year that the plan only covered him at home. e.g. If we were vacationing in Florida and he was in a bad accident, they would cover emergency care only. He would have had to get home for actual treatment, surgery, etc. Same for heart attack--- they would only pay for emergency treatment. If he needed surgery, stents, etc, he would have had to come home. And we took several trips that year. And the network of providers was pretty slim.
The next year he took traditional Medicare and a supplement. Expensive but worth it to us. We've never had to pay anything out of pocket except for medicines, which is of course a different plan (Part D).
