Todays topic is "Beauty and the Beast". I woke up this morning to the most awesome flower ever on Port Orange FFO for the year. There is a story behind this flower. I got it from Dan Trimmer it's year of introduction. I loved it but the winter that year was 12" of snow, the most ever since I have been here and a very wet winter. I lost the plant along with a few others, I think this was 2010. The next year Dan replaced it along with a couple of others, that was last year. He sent me 2 large plants so I then it had 3 fans on each and this spring I sent Ann 3 really nice fans. Then I saw the beginning of leaf scorch or whatever it's called. One fan on Port Orange turned really yellow, so I trimmed it back and hoped for the best. This morning when taking a picture, I looked closer and OMG, the fan was rotted. I was very upset, the greatest flower ever was sick. So I got a knife and cut the rot off the crown of the bad fan and scraped it good, the remaining two fans will hopefully be ok. I put Sulfur dust on the exposed edge and will only water the other side of the plant and hope it dries up. If anyone knows what else I might do with something that would be easily available, please let me know. If I have to get this plant AGAIN, I will be very upset. Here is beauty and the beast (ROT).
