I was planning to divide in the fall (I'm in Florida), but I read an old, old Florida document that said to divide after the Daylily finished blooming, that it goes into a rest period then.* Still, that can put it in the hottest time, for me and the plant. If I tried that I would probably cut the fans down pretty hard and pack them in pots to start recovering and plant in the beds in October. Think I will try this with a couple. I am not advocating this. Just brainstorming how I could shorten "another long year to wait..." which I can relate to.
*They could be talking about evergreens. I always theorized that evergreens rest in the summer and dormants rest in the winter.
