after a quick watering (or brief rainfall) ....walk off and do something else for a couple of hours ....
premix the fertilizer in a container ....
saturate each plant ...
you could recycle fertilizer ....but it might get reduced in strength each time it flowed through the potting mix ....so, depending on the number of plants you have - the fertilizer would get weaker and weaker
