So...does the size of the plant/height of the scape differ from 'Kwanso' to 'Flore Pleno?' I have grown both, just not simultaneously. My comparison is potentially faulty because my 'Kwanso' plants in the past were planted in VERY well-amended soil that resulted in ridiculously vigorous growth from everything planted there (see the following pic of the same garden bed in fall).Thumb of 2021-05-19/MrKGDickie/33f55e
There's a pretty huge difference between the fairly standard 'FP' fans I have now and the "corn stalk" habit of my past 'K' fans (see below, pics from one season about a month apart).Thumb of 2021-05-19/MrKGDickie/9894d6 Thumb of 2021-05-19/MrKGDickie/056d84 Thumb of 2021-05-19/MrKGDickie/4a4b79 Thumb of 2021-05-19/MrKGDickie/c38de5
My current 'Flore Pleno' fans are in a pot with some Asiatic lilies, so their options for going wild are probably limited.Thumb of 2021-05-19/MrKGDickie/57ca05
It's entirely possible I have these backward, but I don't think I do. The true 'FP' flowers I've seen have more tepals (petaloids?) and a much clearer/cleaner color. I could be way off...please let me know if I am!
Hardy hibiscus are a hobby, but daylilies are an obsession.
