Thank you, Amazindirt! When I saw this plant at Mt. Cuba, it was growing right next to a pond, and the Spring Hill website suggests planting it next to water and mentions that it develops the bi-color foliage in wet soil:

I don't have the right conditions for this lovely plant. I hope it does well for you.
