I love the stump. I've been using dead tree remains(firewood) for years as borders in some of my flower beds. After we had a tornado in 2003(Ithink) we lost 30 something huge trees on our 3 acre property. I've had some huge pieces to do something with. Mostly it was the last or first 10 foot or so of the tree with the roots attached. Most as big or bigger than your pretty. I couldn't move the things, no matter how many ways I tried to my existing beds, so I just made new beds around them. DH nearly freaked, he thinks things should last for 30 years and was quick to point out that they would rot. I pointed out that they would last for several years and i was going to enjoy them while they did. Plus the worms loved the fresh compost!! They lasted nearly 10 years and I still have a few pieces left. Admittly, they are mostly rotten, but the huge ends still mark several of my beds.

I had about 20 big chunks that we used as yard stools for years and I dearly miss them since they did finally rot. Nothing like setting on a big chunk of wood with a glass of ice water when you've been digging bermuda grass out of your beds all day. I love using branches as borders. I also cut most of my stakes out of shrub trimmings every year. I've got several new shrubs growing in the most unusual places since the stakes have a tendecy to root!!

You will get many great years out of that huge root stump. The plants will love their new home.
