I made a wish list for RU, too. IF they go to half, I'm in. Toni got me looking at purple roses (ok, mauve) and they have some that I can't find elsewhere. Zuzu, do you grow Shot Silk? I remember someone mentioning it on here. I used to see Cecile Brunner in every nursery, now it's kind of hard to find. It might be nice on a trellis with Coral Dawn, which is the main rose I want.
My big order of 13 clematis arrived today from mamajack's coop and they are monsters. I'm having fun figuring out which clem goes with which rose. The weather here will be windy and in the 90s all weekend, but next week it should stay in the 70s and that's mighty fine planting weather.
Yesterday I bought body bag roses against my better judgement, but this time it paid off. They have nice long roots. I'm soaking them today. The store had a big wooden crate full of bags right out of a cooler somewhere. They just got them in. They were still cold on a 90 degree day! Well, the top layer of roses weren't but I dug down. Does anyone know anything about a rose named "Rusty"? There's not much on it on HMF or DG. It is supposed to be russet colored, maybe with stripes. i also got "Joe's Little Red Creeper", which sounded like a good one for my pond bank. not much info on it anywhere. Everything else was familiar. I was happy to find Ducher, Perle d'Or, MAAB and Sea Foam. The store was running a rebate, so each rose was $1.98. nice canes, nice roots, and they really look like they were properly labeled. (MAAB big and grafted, SeaFoam little and shrubby, etc)

Normally I don't grow HT's unless someone swears they are 99.9% disease resistant, but I looked at the HT display at HD yesterday. That peek paid off! I found 2 Carefree Spirits mixed in there. got them for $8 each. I can plant them out where the hose doesn't reach. They''ll look good with Karl Foerster grass mixed in.
Oh Sue, I should look at a Baden Baden rose too. My husband was born there!
Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.
