Annie,
EWWW! I'll stick to my metal fencing and my Red Pepper Flakes. I've used the flakes for years, especially when trying new plants. The pepper flakes seem to keep the deer and groundhogs at bay, but I have to sprinkle again if we have a lot of rain. For the most part, I have a lot deer resistant perennials plants like Catmint, Catnip, Foxglove, Salvia, and Siberian Iris planted out in the open, but you never know with animals. I've had Bleeding Hearts for years (supposedly deer resistant) and never a problem, but they got hit last year. I use the pepper flakes on them now and so far so good. I don't grow veggies ... here in the mountains the season is just too short. I buy produce from the Amish Markets that are around all Summer.
Happy gardening,
Jane
