I agree, it's definitely not Velvet-leaf Philodendron (Philodendron verrucosum) which has very cordate (heart shaped) leaves with pubescent/hairy petioles. The leaves of P. verrucosum also have distinctive veining, even on juvenile plants.

There's another Philo with the same common name of "Velvet Leaf" but it's also a climbing vine with a trailing, climbing growth habit:
