In one of those links it mentioned that they don't know the parentage of either of the two 'roses' listed above. But they can trace it to 1755 in Europe with specific links to Scotland. Scot's Rose or Scotch Rose, they use both names as well as others.

I really have to be careful or I'll get into the history of plants like this and never pull away from it.
At least I've solved for myself the mystery between the Irish Rose and the ROS hibiscus.
