Better to have it checked by a dermatologist if possible. The first Basal Cell Carcinoma I had...3 different primary care doctors told me it didn't look like anything to worry about. Medical schools really don't prepare them very well for things like that usually. After the 3rd doctor, I referred myself to a dermatologist, who diagnosed it on the first visit and removed it.
