Your plant appears to be suckering and the only way to stop it is to separate the suckers for additional plants. Tightly bunched centers can also be due to over-fertilizing. Here are a couple of pages where you will find information regarding tight crowns and suckers on AV's and tips for removing them and potting up for additional plants.
