I received Hanalei Bay as a bonus plant when Maryotts was going out of business. As evergreens generally do poorly in my garden I would not have purchased it. For the first few years the plant did poorly. I believe at one point it may have been down to a single fan which is usually a death sentence in my garden. It did however rebound after a couple of mild winters. Last year it bloomed fairly well. This year it is actually blooming quite well which is surprising to me. The scapes are somewhat short but other than that I can honestly say I'm impressed. I'm still not sure if I have another really bad winter HB will survive but I'm more hopeful now.
