Weedwhacker said:I was really happy today to see some leaf cutter bees going in and out of the tubes of the bee house I set up earlier (and several appear to have been capped by the leaf cutters). Previously I watched what I'm pretty sure is a "blue mud wasp" also using the house - 4 or 5 tubes have been capped with mud. I don't mind encouraging the solitary wasps, but I'm not really sure at this point what I should do with this mixed population. Confused (I'm inclined to just let nature take her course.)

Sandy--What type of house(s) and tubes do you have? I've made a few mistakes over the years, and we're still learning about native bee houses. Here's some really helpful links:
https://www.bhg.com/gardening/... "how to" info on re-doing the house each year, my favorite way since I'm short on time and energy!

I sometimes bought supplies here, but a few years back they had some of their care wrong and I goofed up too as I said we're all still learning

Cheap Houses I currently have that will be put into the box w/ hole method and discarded next season

"My work is loving the world. Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbird — equal seekers of sweetness. Here the clam deep in the speckled sand. Are my boots old? Is my coat torn? Am I no longer young, and still not half-perfect? Let me keep my mind on what matters, which is my work which is mostly standing still and learning to be astonished." — Mary Oliver, from Messenger
