Thanks for the article! I like to leave my hoses laying around the yard, too, but in the sun, not shade. This is not only for easy access, but because on sunny days I get free hot water that I use for what I call "warm fertilization". I don't waste that hot water - I decant it into 5 gallon buckets and mix up my Miracle Gro and Superthrive in the warm water to use on my favorite plants. They seem to appreciate the warmth to the root zone, especially on cooler days in the winter. The plants that really respond to the warm water treatment are semi-aquatic tropicals like Typhonodorum and Cyrtosperma, but everyone else seems to like it. I have to believe that the warm water facilitates absorption of the fertilizer elements into the roots..It also helps moisten any soil that has gotten a little too dry in between waterings.
