I luckily have this one on my balcony, right next to the kitchen. So I see it often, several times a day, and it was lucky to flower at the weekend when I spend more time out there.
And I have very few daylilies so they all get extra attention, anyway. I doubt I would notice much if I had hundreds and hundreds to deal with.

PS - Thankfully, this flower is still going strong. It is now almost 2.45pm.


If you have fewer plants you can better find out their specific characteristics - that's the reason why I am now culling seedlings like crazy. Night flowering is perfect for all that are out on the job the whole day (for years saw perfect flowers only on the weekends - early in the morning when I had to leave they were not fully open, late in the afternoon they were melted in the heat).

From todays FFO's only one seedling seems to have some potential - many buds at this time of the year, about 5" flowers and not yellow:
