When the flower bearing stalk is 95% dead, I cut it back to a point 2-3" below that. They typically branch for me at the leaf junction just down the stem from there.
It seems to take about 4 weeks before those side bloom stalks flower. They typically have less flowers.
Orchid lecturer, teacher and judge. Retired Wildlife Biologist. Supervisor of a nature preserve up until I retired.
