I have a friend in Phoenix who I send irises to, and the do ok there. She has to water of course, and provides some partial shade during the hottest parts of the year. Arilbred Iris irises are often called desert irises. They thrive in hot dry conditions. You might want to start with them.
Politicians are like diapers, they need to be changed often, and for the same reason.
