Tiffany and Jane...thanks for the understanding. I usually don't resort to drastic measures but due to the infestation well the mugo had to go. storm damage and drought and monsoon -like rains are out of our control{for now} so the only way to deal with catastrophes is to be as prepared as possible. but the insect damage/destruction really gets my blood boiling. I'm not one to reach for sprays and chemicals but, but with the bag worms still evident on the leyland cypress{not as many. I picked alot off on Friday and had the help of a tall friend}, those dreadful Lantern Flies and then the saw fly larva..I was in a nasty mood come Sunday afternoon. I'm about to cut down every evergreen on my property!!! and the photinia has black spot. thats a spray job coming up. copper solution. or I could just let them die and deal with that mess later. i look on the bright side. with the pine gone more room for more dahlias.
