A dear friend gave me a fern of hers when she moved away, and I love it. But I have some questions about it:

1) Can anyone identify what kind of fern it is from the photo?

2) Upon returning from vacation this summer, I noticed that some of the lower leaves looked like they were browning, so I clipped them off. But now I'm wondering if that was just what these ferns do -- turn a little bronzy as they age. Does the attached photo of a browning leaf show something that should be clipped off or left alone?

3) And lastly, this fern actually has two main stems to it, one of which is kind of drooping over. I'm wondering if I can successfully divide this fern by carefully sawing straight down the middle of these two stems and replanting in individual pots?

Thanks.
