well i was at the library yesterday and i noticed some plant pots shoved almost out of sight on a ledge in the entrance hall. one pot had the dessicated ramains of whatever unfortunant plant it was. the other pot has soil that was so bone dry and lacking in nutrients it was almost like pumice stone. there were 5 little plants in it. i couldnt manage to rescue them atthe time cos i had my kids to deal with, but i got my husband (works there) to rescue one plant for me, he wouldnt take the whole lot.

he just brought it home after finishing work for the night. the root stalk was dead and i carefully removed the dead parts and then i potted it in a small pot of cactus soil and i hope to encourage it to put out new root now that its got healthy soil.
i dont know what the plant is, can anyone identify it?
