My doc won't prescribe sleep medication.. I can list all the health risks of sleep deprivation until the cows come home (and go back out) nope! . I
I found something to help.. and it will sound ridiculous to you.. it does to me.. . I have no logical reason it should work.. … background: I have not been a sleeper all my life.. 3-4 hours max. The hubby calls me a vampire.. and I don't get tired and I don't nap.
But I understand the importance of sleep .. and so I asked for a sleep aid and was refused. Anyway…… I have dry eyes as many do as aging creeps up..
Sandy .. dry.. goopy ..tearing ..…. The eye doc said ..let's avoid medication if we can.. use hot compresses…and a lid scrub.. twice - three times a day.. after the compress..rub the lid.. distribute the natural oils.. Well, the hot wash rag didn't say hot very long .. the microwaved bean bags stayed hot longer ..but a pain to heat those at night ..and those did not stay hot THAT long … and so I bought an electric one. Plugs into a wall adaptor like an IPhone does … has settings ..timers and heat settings..
And so the first night I wore it and I woke the next morning anxious.. I fell asleep!! My eyes felt great..but I don't as heck don't like falling asleep with HEAT!! And on my eyes,! A no no for me.. the next night I set it just for 15 minutes —and again fell asleep! Crazy!
My niece is a nurse.. she can't sleep .. works 12 hour days. IN THE ICU!!! . Has two small kids.. work stressed..COVID stressed. I sent her one.. she emailed me after a week.. said " Aunt Dot! ..it works! ". she sleeps every night with it.. She was so excited she bought it for two others. Don't know what their experience have been or even if they tried it.. Amazing.. I don't fall usually asleep until at least 1:30-2 am and I am up by 6 latest. Not now. I can put on at 12 and I am up 5:30-6 .. the nights I don't use … I go back to old habits.
