There are mixed ideas about darkness on the "rooting end" improving root development. I haven't found anything that has convinced me that it would help. I do usually add a splash of H2O2 when I am rooting cuttings in water.
I have found that coffee, tea, and rose can all agree on one thing... water everyday.
