Moles are easy to identify IF you can see them. We have moles, voles, squirrels, and chipmunks and the chipmunks definitely bore tunnels, through 8" of coarse gravel in one instance. I caught them on camera. We grow all our vegetables in raised beds with 1/2" hardware cloth underneath to keep the moles and voles at bay. Chipmunks we live-trap and move them to a wooded area some distance away. You can do a search for mole repellent chemicals online and will probably find some home-brew concoctions that are supposed to work. Good luck
