First plant looks like a mosaic aloe, not a maculate aloe. Both are spotted but the former tends to have glossy, stiff leaves with a different sort of pattern. I would say you got a good deal, given the alternative, but of course having the right name helps.

A list of mosaic aloes: djiboutiensis, elegantissima, erensii, harlana, hemmingii, jucunda, mcloughlinii, parvidens, peckii, pirottae, somaliensis, suffulta.
