Weedwhacker said:We have about 4 inches of new snow, but I'm happy to say that tonight the temp will be a balmy 15°F and the lowest low for the next couple of weeks is predicted to be 5°F. I usually put plastic film over our windows (inside) but haven't done that yet since the weather has been so mild; maybe that will be tomorrow's project - it not only keeps the house a little warmer, but we get a LOT of condensation on the windows otherwise, to the point of doing some damage to the window frames (especially in the kitchen).
I remember doing that when we first were renters in the North house; oddly even though Dad's house original windows were old fashioned double hung , single pane, never had that ice build up very often but then we had humidifiers running in winter.
We did have annoy stuck windows in wet hot summers at times though, with dehumidifier running.
Well my pants are on fire; I ended up snow blowing off the drive way/parking lot.
We had 4 some inches with an ice film on top, really odd, and after cleaning off the cars, I do the renters as she does mine, there were piles of snow next to the cars, so I blew that all out.
Broke a shear-pin on the snow blower and the gent's place I have done business years for 30 some years died last year, so getting parts is not a simple job like it once was.
Found one and with travel time it took me five hours to finally get it all done; wind was strong and VERY annoyingly swirling , i.e. not blowing in just one direction so even blowing the snow straight up I ended up with snow blowing back in my face.
I had forgotten how nasty it feels when that snow hits you in the face; almost had to take a break and go inside to melt but as I have not hit girly-man state yet I toughed it out. (Putting shear-pin in was almost worse as you can not do that with gloves on.)
