On this rainy last day of May (hooray for the much needed rain!), one of my Rosepoint Lace bulbs has sprung into glorious flower. This is one of the Lilium lankongense hybrids planted last fall that started showing buds at only 3-4 inches tall this spring, but has elongated fairly nicely and is now 22 inches tall with three buds (one yet unopened). I planted five bulbs total of this strain: three remaining stems have buds almost ready to pop (maybe tomorrow?) and one stem stayed a few inches shorter and aborted its buds.
To my eyes, it is beautiful and I have high hopes for taller stems, a higher bud count and some signs of multiplication next season!
