Sorry guys I've been so busy outside. We're having unseasonably nice weather so we've been working out there... moving roses, fixing chicken run stuff....LOL Anyway, Yes Ron I will add you to my list. I think I might have several GERALDINEs rooted. Just waiting to make sure.
As for my rooting secrets... well I use Hormex #8 rooting hormone mixed with cinnamon. I think in my tutorial last yr I said to mix it half and half, but I found you don't really need THAT much cinnamon. Maybe 1/4th. I also recently have been pre-dipping the stems in that purple rooting gel Clonex before the Hormex mix. You really have to make sure the soil medium you use is well tamped. I mean use something to smash it down super-tight and make sure the stems are really well tamped and tight in the soil mix. If they are wiggly, they don't root very well. And make sure to make a tunnel to stick the stem in all the way to the bottom of whatever you pot it in. I put up to 8 cuttings per variety in a one gal pot. I bag them up in a big ziplock baggie and mist well. I found that spring rootings go faster than winter. This winter was colder than normal last couple months, and the cuttings are taking closer to 3 mos to root. Spring time they can root as fast as 4 wks! It's all hit and miss and different varieties take longer or shorter periods to root. Just give it a try!! It's fun and rewarding. I'm having a blast potting up florist roses. Just did some more yesterday. Got a purple with green guard petals called TIARA and a yellow/red/orange blend one called SILANTOI.
I'll let you guys know if the GERALDINEs root...
