I have looked into this orchid and I did not get as close to a correct name as I had hoped.
The closest I could come was either Colmanara Rose Garden aka Oncostele Rose Garden. They are the same hybrid but the name change was due to DNA investigation.
The other good possibility is Wilsonara Sheila Anne. Actually I like Sheila Anne the best. It seemed to be pretty similar. BUT within complex orchid hybrids whether it is Oncidiums, Cattleyas or others, the more generations of parentage, the more muddy the waters become.
Unfortunately I can not say with a high degree of certainty what this is exactly.
I feel almost certain that it is a Wilsonara, 90% sure. 10% chance it's a Oncostele.
The correct hybrid name is tough. If it was a 'mericlone', it would be an exact match. No doubt. But I don't think this hybrid is a mericlone.
But within these hybrids, there can be several variations yet they have the same name. Knowing exactly where this came from, and when, could help narrow it down further. As a result, knowing it is a hybrid of the late 90's, or mid 2,000's, would help. But even that is hard to pin down.
THE EXACT NAME IS ONLY OF GREAT IMPORTANCE is if it was going to be AOS judged. But saying simply it is a Wilsonara hybrid means that in orchid shows nowadays, it could win a ribbon.
My suggestion is to call it "Wilson" after the movie Castaway.
Call it Wilsonara hybrid
Or call it Wilsonara Sheila Anne and let it go as that.
Normally I can ID some of these unknowns to a 95-100% degree of certainty. The best I can do here is a 50-50 chance.
I am sorry that I could not do any better!!!
