Thanks Ann, I'm slowly getting the hang of Hosta maintenance in large part due to posts here. This Autumn/Spring I made sure there was no mulch in areas with Hosta and then drenched with the ammonia solution as the sprouts were pushing up. To date only one plant shows any sign of damage and that slight. These very simple steps have gone a long way here and I'm thankful for the suggestions in this forum.
