Somewhere, I think it was the email robin, it's being said that there is high amounts of solar activity (solar flares) going on so there is a lot more radiation from the sun and that can affect the daylilies. The farmers have been worried about it with their crops and farmers are big on going by things like that. Someone that keeps up with when the flares occur saw a connection between when they happened and when certain things happened with their different plants and trees. And the dying of scapes and dropping buds was discussed as the solar activity being a culprit.
The scapes dying and bud dropping is in a lot of different areas, even ones that aren't dry.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it actually, but you never know.
