@BigBill, milkweed is VERY easy to grow from seed, and they will reseed if you let them. Plus birds love the silky part of the seed for nesting (what is that called? Seed silk?)

Also, if you're maybe interested in hosting hummingbird moths, Major Wheeler (Coral Honeysuckle - Lonicera sempervirens) is a great plant. But know that it's a climber so you'll want to put it somewhere where you can also put a trellis of some sort. Added benefits: hummingbirds love the flowers, and goldfinches love the berries.
