I've had Lady Neva for about five years and this daylily does grow tall - I'm sure she reaches the full 42 inches. Noted as a buff yellow with a 'rose' eyezone, the pattern is always distinctive - particularly as the scapes clear the foliage by a good margin.
The colour of the eye seems to vary ... sometimes I would agree that 'rose' fits... other times, it looks nearly red ... and then, it shifts towards cinnamon. (I think she likes to keep me guessing.) But this is a reliable daylily, blooms every year, and quite hardy in my cold climate gardens. Lady Neva is also fragrant, which I appreciate.
I've not had trouble with her scapes being 'weak' ... but I plant my gardens with a 'cottage garden' mentality: if you can see ground, plant it! So everything seems to bump up against everything else and they all support each other. (Pack them in...)
In fact, I'm not sure why... in our moist northeast climate... I don't have trouble with mildew or rust, particularly as everything crowds together. But Lady Neva is another rust-free daylily with attention-getting blooms that dance freely in the breezes of the gardens. She's a keeper.
