I went to the database page for it,
Japanese Flowering Cherry (Prunus serrulata 'Kanzan'), and found lots more photos of it to gladden the eye. Although Michigan is a big producer of cherries as a food crop, ornamental cherry trees, while not rare, are not especially abundant where I live. You have to know where to look in order to see them in bloom in the spring.
