It seems to me that the weather and bloom patterns keep getting weirder. Here in Tennessee this past winter was relatively mild, historically speaking, but started with an early cold snap and ended with some nasty hard freezes. So the figs are all doing fine because the really cold spells were brief, but daylilies are advanced or retarded, depending on their location. The ones down in the valley got the brunt of the lingering chill and were bitten back and delayed. The endless potted stuff (ironically) is higher than the inversion layer and more protected and is going gangbusters now. So, location of plants and their microclimates matters, and when and for how long it was cold, matters. I'm sure there are additionally factors that reference the past year, like moisture levels, but that's another story.
