Hello, sorry to be absent, your lovelies above are a treat. The Stanhopias are gorgeous, but I thought they all smelled like corpses or stinky feet? Think I am now on a quest for a chocolate-scented Encyclia, being such a chocoholic. Friday is "dunk day" for my orchids, they all get a dunk in rainwater to flush the salts and thoroughly water them, so I was busy this morning.
I just returned from what will sadly be my last visit to the orchid orphanage. It had to come. They found a buyer for all the rest of the orchids, so I am happy for them. But I had hoped to pick up a couple more that I saw last week and didn't buy. Shoulda woulda coulda . . I got many beauties for little money from them.
Oh well, I did get a pretty little blue-ish NoID dendrobium, half price at Home Depot last night, so I'll have to be happy with that. For now. It's a nice healthy plant, and the flowers are more blue than the picture shows. They had a sign beside their whole orchid display (sitting outside in the 90deg. heat - but in shade) saying "Easy care Orchids, 3 ice cubes once a week". Their customers will be killing all those poor Phals, Dens and a few spidery flowered ones I didn't recognize (no tags on anything) even faster now, I'd think!
